Meet the East and West: An eXchAnge between Sitar & Guitar

Susanta Chowdhury is a consummate artist and teacher, whose playing on his chosen instrument, the sitar, has been described as “divinely inspired”. He holds an M.A. in music from Delhi University, where he was awarded a Gold Medal. An “A” Grade artist with All India Radio and Television, he has toured extensively, and is currently an educator at the Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society. Today, Susanta’s reputation as a versatile and innovative Indian musician is firmly established in the world of music.

Isuru Wijesoma is a Singaporean-Sri Lankan guitarist with over 20 years of experience. He has honed his craft in both Western and Indian classical styles, even designing a custom double-neck guitar that enables him to switch seamlessly between the two. As a solo artists and member of Mantravine, Isuru has performed at numerous venues across Singapore and around the world, captivating audiences with his unique blend of styles and innovative approach to guitar playing. His debut album, Third Culture, was released last year and its available on all streaming platforms.
