Two artists engage in conversation:
Was it about... eating bread, rearing potatoes, making ducks?
Or were they about to make bread, eat potatoes, and rear ducks?
Or... did I hear you say... ?
Expect a visual exploration of the physical and imaged body, as Jialing and Yen Ee merge their perceptions of movement versus image, communicating through projections whether real or imagined.
By revealing the process of creating movement and images, they invite the audience to draw their own conclusions from this conversation. What are they trying to communicate? Are they speaking to each other, or to you? And why is there a duck in a suit?
Who knows?
No tickets will be issued. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Neo Jialing
Neo Jialing is a movement artist and a potato. Grounded in somatic, lived experiences, her practice is improvisatory, led by curiosity, absurdism, and vulnerability; moving when the whim takes ahold.
An active educator and creator for young audiences, Jialing helms the multi-disciplinary collective JAGA-EMOTE!, crafting experiences that help children navigate body safety and autonomy through play. She also facilitates musing through, a body-focused open jam, offering a space for the moving community to take time, meander and practice ecologies of care.
Choo Yen Ee
Yen Ee is a filmmaker born and based in Singapore. In her work, she likes to explore the tension between one’s identity and environment. Her films have been screened at international film festivals such as Seoul Eco film festival, and DMZ Docs.
