Tango holds a special place in the world’s musical heritage. What began in the lively cafes and bars of Argentina has since crossed borders to become an international phenomenon. Popularised by composers like Carlos Gardel and Astor Piazzolla, tango has evolved into a celebrated art form performed on prestigious stages worldwide. In recognition of its cultural significance, tango was included in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list in 2009.
In this performance, Tango Duo showcases the rich cultural heritage of tango with a heartfelt selection of beloved tango tunes.
Aleks Farseev
Aleks Farseev is an acclaimed accordionist known for his dynamic performances and innovative approach to the instrument. With a rich background in both classical and contemporary music, Farseev has captivated audiences with his ability to seamlessly blend genres, from folk and jazz to tango and classical compositions. Born and trained in Russia, he has performed on prestigious stages across Europe and Asia, earning accolades for his technical mastery and expressive playing. Farseev’s deep connection to music and his unique interpretations make each performance a powerful and memorable experience.
Guennadi Mouzyka
Since 1992, Guennadi Mouzyka has established himself as both Principal Bass of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and a distinguished recitalist. His solo repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary music. He has premiered Singapore compositions such as Inner Voice by Anne LeBaron, and Natural by Tan Chan Boon for Double Bass solo, Op.47 which was dedicated to him by the composer. As a chamber musician, Guennadi has performed with renowned ensembles like Yo-Yo Ma Silk Road Ensemble, T'ang Quartet, and The Orchestra Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic. He has also collaborated with acclaimed artists like Alina Ibragimova, Jeff Bradetich and Nobuko Imai. Guennadi also serves as Artist Faculty at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music and conducts double bass masterclasses across Europe, Asia, and the United States.
