Experience the timeless beauty of the koto, the Japanese version of the zither that originated from the guzheng, and discover its distinct timbre, music composition styles and ensemble combinations. This performance will feature a mix of Japanese classical and contemporary music by renowned koto composers, showcasing the versatility of an instrument that has remained virtually unchanged for centuries.
KotoKottoN
KotoKottoN is a koto ensemble based in Singapore that was founded in 2009 by Kitai Saeko. A Japanese language teacher at the Centre for Language Studies, National University of Singapore (NUS), she is also a qualified teacher from the Sawai Koto School. The ensemble includes dedicated and passionate members from NUS and beyond, and their dynamic repertoire comprises both traditional and contemporary compositions. KotoKotton regularly participates in various cultural and private events.
