Belaian Sayang: Love, Through the Years

Alunan Kampung Gelam is a music collective initiated in 2023 by Faizah Jamal, a third-generation Kampong Gelam resident, with her children Azura and Almira. Inspired by their father/grandfather, baritone Ahmad Jamal of Radio Malaya, they continue the music legacy of their heritage-rich neighbourhood. In their multi-generational family home where both Ahmad and Faizah Jamal were born, the trio gather with friends to make music. The collective draws from a rich and eclectic palette of musical interests spanning opera, classical music, Irish/Scottish folk music, songs from the Nusantara, and beyond.
