Artist Information

Mohamed Faizal

Mohamed Faizal has been playing the guzheng since he was 19, after learning it for a year and a half. He has performed both locally and internationally, showcasing music from various genres and cultures, all of which have been well received. His diverse playing style has inspired guzheng players worldwide, particularly in China, with many incorporating his approach into their music arrangements and compositions. 

Rudi Bin Salim

Rudi Bin Salim, a Malay traditional percussionist, began his musical journey in 1990 as a dikir barat performer. In 2011, he founded the Malay traditional music ensemble Nobat Kota Singa and later joined the Malay percussion ensemble Nadi Singapura as a senior drummer and leaders. 

Chin Yen Chien

Chin Yen Chien began learning pipa at the age of 10. In 1992, he won first prize in the Intermediate Category at the Inaugural Chinese Music Competition. The following year, he took home the first prize in the Pipa Intermediate Category at the National Music Competition organised by the National Arts Council. Yen Chien had represented Singapore at numerous international arts events, including the World Commonwealth Commemoration Day in New Delhi (2004), the ASEAN Network of Major Cities 21 (ANMC 21) cultural exchange in Bangkok (2009); the Inaugural ASEAN Musical Extravaganza held in Kuala Lumpur (2012), and the International Ramayana Festival in New Delhi and Patna (2015), where he performed with traditional Indian musicians from Bhaskars Art Academy. In September 2015, he also performed at the SAC International Conference of Folk Performing Arts in ASEAN in Bangkok, in conjunction with the fifth cycle birthday of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. In September 2018, Yen Chien and his multi-ethnic ensemble, Art Dè Trio, performed at the Singapore Festival in Moscow, Russia, earning high praise from the Singapore Ambassador to Moscow.
