Synopsis

Have you ever tried making music using a plant?  Developed by Playable Streets "The Plants" is an interactive installation featuring experimental musical instruments that combine live plants with digital sensors. Your skin controls the pitch of each plant instrument, allowing you to play a range of notes when you interact with them. Led by artist facilitators, this interactive installation encourages audience participation, inviting everyone to come and engage in collaborative music-making and interaction with nature. 

 

There will also be live performances from 7.30–8pm, where local musicians join in, integrating their instruments into The Plants' sonic landscape.

Playable Streets

Playable Streets is a participatory arts company that engages and reconnects communities through collaborative art in public spaces, homes and online. The company is made up of a team of theatre-makers, visual artists, designers, engineers and composers creating site-specific installations that transform public spaces, interactive art books and online experiments. Playable Streets has created a series of works that explores public collaboration and collective play. They work with communities to tell their stories in new ways and also present workshops for a diverse range of participants exploring the intersections of music, technology, art and design.
