The Anson Fung quartet presents a selection of Latin jazz tunes from Kenny Dorham, Arito Moreira, Cedar Walton and more. This edition features Lee Ann Gie on organ and Shawn Letts on saxes, presenting a unique take on the sound of Latin influenced American jazz. Rounding up the line-up is Yap Ting Wei on drums. Expect duelling segments between guitar and saxes, in hot, hot, hot showdown of musical proportions.
No tickets will be issued. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Anson Fung
Anson Fung is an experienced cross-genre guitarist. Self-taught since age 15, he decided to pursue a career in music and enrolled in Lasalle College of the Arts where he was selected from his graduating cohort to be featured in Lianhe Zaobao. Anson regularly sessions for events and functions and has also played with several notable Singaporean and international artists such as Benny Golson, Alemay Fernndez and Jeremy Monterio. He currently performs as a session guitarist around town and internationally. Besides leading and managing, he also performs with his R&B acts, Grind Effect and Anson Road, his blues band The Blues Initiative, and his jazz acts, the Anson Fung Organ Trio, Guitar Trio and Quartet.
Lee Ann Gie
Ann Gie is a pianist, composer and arranger. She fell in love with jazz when she was 17 and has been trying to decode the music ever since. She has performed with many Singaporean and international jazz artists including Jeremy Monterio and the Jazz Association of Singapore Youth Orchestra. She is currently with the Music and Drama Company.
Shawn Letts
Saxophonist Shawn Letts has made Singapore his home for many years. Aside from being a keyboardist, composer and arranger, he also has several production accomplishments to his name. He has composed original scores for PBS, Disney Channel Asia, Steppenwolf Theatre and many other established clients. He produced or co-produced a David Bowie remix, the Heart Of Asia sound collection, Singaporean jazz songstress Alemay Fernandez’s debut album as well as several albums under his own name. He has performed with jazz icon Jeremy Monteiro on three continents and is a regular member of the Jazz Association of Singapore Orchestra.
Yap Ting Wei
Yap Ting Wei is one of Singapore's most sought-after drummers and has performed at several international festivals including the Thailand International Jazz Festival, Thailand Smiles Jazz Festival, Lion City Youth Festival and Xihu Blooms Festival. Performing at levels beyond his age, Ting Wei has worked with numerous prolific and renowned artists such as the legendary Benny Golson, Luo Da You, Randy Brecker, Jeremy Monteiro, Joanna Dong, Kerong Chok, Alemay Fernandez, and The Steve Mcqueens.
