Boys from the County Hell – A Tribute to Shane MacGowan and The Pogues
Synopsis
The Pogues exploded onto the London scene in the early ’80s, uniquely fusing punk with traditional Irish music. At a time when Irishness was deeply unfashionable, The Pogues, led by Shane MacGowan, railed against the vapid synth-pop and power ballads of the early ’80s. A terrible beauty is born.
Boys from the County Hell will be paying tribute to the genius of MacGowan and the Pogues with a 14-piece ensemble, featuring a full brass section. Their repertoire spans the entire Pogues songbook, from the riotous Sally Maclennane and the tender Rainy Night in Soho to the Christmas song, Fairytale of New York, and the sangria-soaked anthem Fiesta.
