Synopsis

This session is an introduction to unlocking the bass playing techniques of the accordion by exploring and interpreting classic Malay folk songs and the rhythms of asli, inang, joget and zapin into playable pieces.

Participants will be introduced to techniques for playing the accordion solo, without the need for accompaniment by other instruments. The session will offer a foundational overview of both traditional and contemporary Malay accordion styles and is suitable for accordion players of all levels.

Participants are required to bring along their personal accordion for this masterclass.
