From the Golden Age of Malay Cinema to today’s viral hits, Gala Gemadah celebrates early 70 years of Malay cultural creativity in a spectacular concert.
Leading the show are two rising industry trailblazers. Juraimi Johari of Nobat Kota Singa, fresh from directing Irama Laguku, takes the stage as a featured composer and arranger. Alongside him, Danial dk Khaliq of Orkestra Sri Temasek has represented Singapore and Malay music at international festivals including Festival Lent 2025 and Festi’Roche 2022.
They’ve curated two hours of modern hits and timeless folk tunes, performed by a mix of seasoned veterans and emerging talents. Set against the Singapore skyline and River at the DBS Foundation Outdoor Theatre, the concert promises an unforgettable musical journey.
Performing the songs are familiar voices: Tok Juara Shariff Abdullah, showstealer Hidayat Zainal, rising star Yunie Karim, and vocal powerhouse Suryana Norddin, joined by the iconic Puan Ma-Hani Mahmud, one of Singapore’s most enduring traditional Malay singers.
Since its debut in 2018, Gala Gemadah has been a must-see festival highlight of Gemadah – Traditional Malay Music Festival.
Gemadah – Traditional Malay Music Festival is presented by Persatuan Pemuzik Tradisional Melayu Singapura in collaboration with Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay as part of Esplanade's Pentas series.
