Chinese Dance Fiesta 2025: Dunhuang Dance Talk & Demonstration

Synopsis
Renowned for its graceful movements and elaborate hand gestures, Dunhuang dance originates from the ancient city of Dunhuang. Drawing inspiration from the flowing figures and celestial beings depicted in the frescoes of its Mogao Caves, this elegant art form beautifully embodies Buddhist motifs and spiritual themes.
In this talk and demonstration session, gain a deeper appreciation for the rich history and unique characteristics of this mesmerising art form—and maybe even pick up a movement or two!
This session will be conducted by Ms Li Qian, a distinguished lecturer from the Dance Academy of Northwest Minzu University in China.
