toconoma (Japan)

Formed in Shibuya, Tokyo in 2008, toconoma crafts grooves driven by passionate dance beats and emotive melodies. Even without lyrics, their music conveys depth and feeling, weaving sounds that transcend genre and push beyond conventional boundaries.

Following the release of their third album, NEWTOWN, in June 2017, toconoma performed at Fuji Rock Festival in 2018, celebrated their 10th anniversary with a sold-out solo tour at Tokyo TSUTAYA O-EAST, and toured Hong Kong and other locations. In August 2021, toconoma released their first documentary DVD, VISTAS, which sold out rapidly. That same month, they hosted the self-organised, sold-out event TOCOJAWS 2021 at Ebisu The Garden Hall. The following year, they returned to Fuji Rock Festival for their second appearance on one of the festival’s stages.

In 2023, marking their 15th anniversary, toconoma embarked on the solo tour “TOCONOVA” and performed at Hibiya Outdoor Music Hall for the first time. Singapore will be their final overseas show of 2025, and fans can look forward to experiencing their mesmerising live performance.

About the festival

The 24th edition of Baybeats, presented by Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, took place from 30 Oct – 2 Nov 2025. This year's festival was four days, instead of its usual three, and featured five stages, with the return of our Livewire Stage at the Forecourt Garden.

Each year, Baybeats works hard to bring together a diverse mix of alternative artists, from Singapore and around the world. Baybeats hopes to create a space where emerging and established artists share the same stages, where boundaries fade, and where a passion for music and shared moments are what truly matter.

As Singapore’s largest free alternative music festival, the success of Baybeats is built upon years of strong support from our independent music scene, from musicians and fans who have grown with the festival (and now bring their families along), to our Baybeats Budding Bands and first-time festival-goers. Baybeats thrives because of everyone’s unwavering support and belief in alternative music.
