Embark on a musical adventure with the St. Joseph’s Institution Symphonic Band (SJISB) as they explore a repertoire spanning different eras of film and popular music, that are sure to stir up fond memories from your own childhood. The programme promises a delightful mix of tunes, from the whimsical charm of My Neighbour Totoro to the majestic grandeur of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, culminating in a nostalgic tribute to your favourite boy band classics.
My Neighbour Totoro: Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Studio Ghibli. From the idyllic The Village in May to the thrilling Catbus, let the band take you on a mystical journey through these familiar and heartwarming melodies.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens: Prepare for an epic voyage to a galaxy far, far away! This powerful piece features iconic themes, including the timeless Star Wars Main Theme, accompanied by the sinister yet majestic sounds of March of the Resistance.
Best of Boy Bands: Conclude your musical journey with a blast from the past! The SJISB will ignite your nostalgia with beloved pop anthems from iconic 2000s groups like BTS and Backstreet Boys, bringing your favourite childhood tunes to life.
Bringing the arts to communities in need through Limelight
Half of the ticket proceeds will go toward supporting Esplanade’s community engagement programmes which bring the arts to at-risk youth, the elderly, people with special needs and other underserved communities.

Relaxed Environment
St. Joseph's Institution Symphonic Band
The St. Joseph's Institution Symphonic Band (SJISB) is a venerable institution, tracing its roots back to a bugle and fife band in 1957. Evolving into a military band by 1963 and transforming into a symphonic band in 2020, the SJISB stands as one of Singapore's earliest and most distinguished musical ensembles.
The SJISB is a large family of passionate musicians who work together to create mellifluous music by devoting themselves to master their own instruments and complement each other to create soul-stirring melodies in unison.
The band performs for school programmes as well as external events and has won several accolades along the way. In the last Singapore Youth Festival, they were awarded double distinctions for the two teams they had sent. In 2023, they were once again honoured to be selected to perform at Esplanade.
Relaxed Environment
This is a Relaxed Environment (RE) performance. Perfect for anyone who benefits from being able to make a noise, leave and return to their seat or access the toilets during the performance. No modifications are made to the performance.
