Since their formation in 2006, Jakarta’s indie rock band L’Alphalpha has continually evolved, transforming from their atmospheric post-rock roots into a band known for crafting melodic, textured, and emotionally resonant music as they shifted towards indie rock and pop.

Formed in 2006, L’Alphalpha is an indie rock band from Jakarta, Indonesia. They began with post-rock roots, as heard in their 2011 debut When We Awake, All Dreams Are Gone, before shifting towards a more melodic indie rock and pop sound on their second album Von Stufe Zu Stufe (2013). The band released two standalone singles, Tualang (2016) and Pulang, Kembali (2017), before taking a brief hiatus. In 2019, L’Alphalpha returned with Batas, introducing a new lineup and creative direction. Their latest album Kelak, Kelam ‘Kan Berpendar (2023) is an album about loss, hope and everything in-between, exploring emotional complexity through rich, layered instrumentation and lyrical depth.
