Synopsis
A pioneer of Taiwan’s modern theatre scene and fondly remembered for his role as Jiang Binliu from Secret Love in Peach Blossom Land, King Shih-chieh represents a significant chapter in the history of Chinese-language theatre.
In a rare dialogue session, King Shih-chieh generously shares the wisdom he has gained starting from his early days when he had nothing to do till his current world of washed-away glitz and glamour. Moderator Liu Xiaoyi joins him for an evening that extends beyond the topic of acting to philosophical reflections on life, time and the essence of storytelling.
This session is part of Huayi Dialogues, conceived and moderated by Singapore theatre practitioner Liu Xiaoyi.
Huayi Dialogues returns to examine and dissect the very core of theatre: its People and its Art. Co-curated with Singapore theatre practitioner Liu Xiaoyi, this year's edition features five illuminating sessions with theatre luminaries from Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taipei, coming together to dissect the “bones” and “soul” of Chinese theatre.
