David and Tomas are two multidisciplinary circus artists specialising in balance and manipulation of commonly used objects. After graduating at Cirko Vertigo, they founded the Kolektiv Lapso Cirk in 2016, an international contemporary circus collective including Veronica Capozzoli, Léa Legrand and Carla Carnerero.
OVVIO is an original idea by David and Tomas, who over time have made new developments thanks to the circuit of international residences that they’ve been awarded. It allowed them the opportunity to be constantly trying out new material, performing it all over Europe, getting valuable feedback wherever they go.
David Diez Mendez is a Spanish artist originally from Valladolid. Graduating both from Carampa and Cirko Vertigo, he specialised in juggling and rue cyr. He currently works mainly within the Kolektiv Lapso Cirk, where he is one of its original founders. In OVVIO, he develops his search for balance through the use of raw materials and everyday objects.
Tomas Vaclavek is a Slovak artist based in Stockholm, and is currently enrolled at DOCH, where he is studying for the only contemporary circus Master’s Degree course presently in existence. As a circus artist, he is interested in redefining the relationship with objects, mostly seeking the extraordinary in the ordinary.
