Esplanade Black Room
German biologist Jakob von Uexküll postulated the concept of Umwelt - of how organisms, despite inhabiting the same physical environment, each have distinct perceptual realities, shaped by their unique set of sensory organs and systems.
Fascinated by this theory, composer-pianist Tze Toh has created a series of original works that draw inspiration from jazz, film score, classical, Carnatic and world music, to explore this theme through composition and improvisation.
Come experience an evening of solo piano music, and immerse yourself in the Umwelten, the individual unique perceptive worlds of life forms, both biological and synthetic, existing and imaginary, of Earth to worlds beyond, through a series of original musical works - tapestries of sound made up of rhythms, melodies, harmony and textures, and experience how they can change our individual distinct awareness of the world and connection to life itself.
No recording of any kind is allowed during the performance.
Food and drinks are not allowed in the auditorium.
No infants in arms are allowed. Children will require their own ticket.
