RESOLUTION

by Mohamed Latiff Mohamed

should this night be dyed
i would lead my people
toward the clear red orange well
a sign my struggle has re-started

if the bridal rice is aglow
then i burn the night with a candle
with flowers of seven seasons
a sign that Jebat has returned with a
cutlass kris

jika malam ini akan berinai juga
kan kupimpin tangan anak-anak bangsa
menuju telaga bening merah jingga
tanda perjuanganku kembali bermula

jika berseri nasi pengantin
kubakar malam ini dengan api lilin
dengan bunga di tujuh musim
tanda kembalinya Jebat berkeris lading

A comic adaptation by

Farihan Bahron and Ross Monday

The year is 2120. Nuclear fallout from decades of conflict has caused the human race to become infertile. A geneticist Jebat, named after the defiant warrior in the Malay Annals, attempts an experimental and borderline unethical insemination procedure.

While searching for a suitable female host in the wasteland, he teleports to the past and emerges near the Malaccan royal palace. He is greeted by Dang Wangi, a palace maiden, whom he falls in love with. When they elope, the Sultan orders the great warrior Hang Tuah to arrest Jebat for treason.

Will Jebat manage to save humanity and himself, or is history doomed to repeat itself?
