One of the most technically complex and dangerous work in the live entertainment industry is suspending theatrical equipment and scenic elements. Safe rigging is not guesswork and the repercussions of improperly rigged systems are life threatening.
Objectives
The Theatrical Rigging Programme is competency based and designed to meet the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) framework.
It aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to safely perform rigging operations in a theatrical or entertainment environment. The skills taught in Module 1 include; determining the rigging requirements for production, installing hoists, blocks and any other rigging equipment, and dismantling hoists and blocks after performance.
Module 2 covers inspecting, monitoring and maintaining all rigging and rigging system operations. The skills include inspecting the rigging equipment to be used for productions or events; monitoring the operation of rigging systems; and maintaining the rigging equipment to be ready and available for the performance.
Description
WSQ Theatrical Rigging Programme (Part II) consists of 2 Modules covering both theoretical and supervised practical experience and this will be conducted over 8 days including assessment.
Each of the training modules must be satisfactorily completed and participant must meet all requirements before undertaking the next level of training.
Participants must be certified competent in Theatrical Rigging Programme Part I and must possess certificate in “Signaling for Lifting Operation and Rigging Operation Certification” before they are allowed to take this programme. Please refer to Ministry of Manpower website for the list of training and certification providers.
Certification
Participants will be awarded the Statement of Attainment for WSQ Theatrical Rigging Programme Part II upon successful completion of all 2 modules in the Theatrical Rigging Programme.

Technical crew who work in the area of rigging with a strong technical background in a theatre or live performance setting.
Terms and Conditions
In order to enjoy the funding, participants need to fulfil the following requirements:

Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents (PR) of Singapor

Successfully complete all assessments for the 2 modules of the WSQ Theatrical Rigging Programme (Part II) to be certified competent

Sign an undertaking to complete all 2 modules of the WSQ Theatrical Rigging Programme (Part II) in order to qualify for the training grant

Meet the minimum of 75% attendance
