Sing Out Loud! is a community engagement programme by Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay in partnership with Alzheimer’s Disease Association. Conceptualised in 2016, the programme seeks to provide persons with dementia opportunities to deepen their engagement with music through the reminiscence of songs and vocal singing.
The Sing Out Loud! Trainer Programme (Basic) is a new programme under the Esplanade Academy designed to equip and empower participants with the skills and knowledge that goes into meaningful and quality Sing Out Loud! sessions with persons with dementia. In this three-day programme, participants will learn how to put together an effective basic singing programme for persons with dementia through:
About the trainer
Angelina Choo is a trained singer who has been singing and performing for over 30 years in choirs and a cappella ensembles. She is the founder and Artistic Director of The A Cappella Society and Urban Music Productions, overseeing concert projects, training projects and directing ensembles. She has also done choral conducting work in the past.
Esplanade’s Community Engagement team has been working with Angelina to run Sing Out Loud! for seniors since 2014, and with persons with dementia in partnership with Alzheimer’s Disease Association since 2016.
