Esplanade Presents | Beautiful Sunday
Yin and Yang
Yin and Yang draws its inspiration from Chinese philosophy, where seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary in the natural world. The forces of the wind ensemble, mostly made up of modern Western instruments, will bring about an afternoon of Chinese and Chinese-influenced music spanning different periods and styles, in a carefully curated programme that will demonstrate the ensemble’s versatility.
Join the Audio Image Wind Ensemble as they bring you a modern twist to Nie Er’s classic Dance of the Golden Snake, the familiar favourite Dance of Yao, selections from critically acclaimed musical by Dick Lee, Forbidden City, as well as the premiere performance of Flame《焰火》 by Benjamin Lim Yi, composed as a test piece for the 2017 Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging of Chinese Orchestras (Secondary School category), in a version specially arranged for the AudioImage Wind Ensemble by its Associate Conductor Mohamad Rasull.
AudioImage Wind Ensemble is a premier musical ensemble residing at Siglap South Community Centre, a nationally designated Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts. Inaugurated in 1992, the ensemble comprises musicians with varied performance experiences working in harmony to introduce new sounds to the ensemble and community.
