Mahesha Ram and the Meghwal Singers of Rajasthan
Fri & Sat
22 Apr: 6.30pm
Described as meditative and mesmerising, Mahesha Ram’s hypnotic folk style has a calming quality that gently draws his listeners into his rhythms. Hailing from Chhatangadh village near Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, he belongs to the Meghwal community of singers, bastions of an age-old oral tradition that transmits bhakti poetry, such as the poet Kabir’s, through all-night performances.
