Once again Esplanade’s Waterfront will be the hub of Malay culture, filled with colourful music and dances from the region in our annual celebration of Hari Raya. Dancers from Teater Tari Era, Azpirasi and guest groups from Sumatra will come together for an exhilarating cultural experience.
For the third year running, Deepavali falls during the festivities of Pesta Raya. To celebrate it with our Indian friends, we have dedicated an Indian theme to the festival’s eve. Join Bangsawan (Malay street theatre) making merry all night long, from 10pm on Saturday 25 October to 2am on Sunday 26 October.
Community Project
Batik artists from TUJU Arts will conduct workshop sessions with selected charity groups. The batik designs will incorporate both Malay and Indian motifs and the workshops will culminate in the assemblage of pieces created by the participants into an installation piece to be displayed at Esplanade’s Upper Concourse and Theatre Street Cones.
