SYNOPSIS
The Mango Dollies is a spoken word and music duo consisting of poet Pooja Nansi and singer Anjana Srinivasan. In tonight's collaboration they are interested in seeing how music and poetry complement and question each other. The Mango Dollies are largely inspired by contemporary poetry and Blues and Folk music in creating original pieces as well exploring collaborations between poets and songwriters such as Charles Bukowski and Townes Van Zandt as well as Carol Anne Duffy and Gillian Welsch.
The Mango Dollies are Pooja and Anjana. Pooja NansiĀ is an educator and poet who believes in the power that speech and performance can lend to the written word.Her first collection of poetry "Stiletto Scars" was published in 2007 at the Singapore Writer's Festival .
Anjana Srinivasan started singing traditional blues and folk music in acoustic duos and has recently 'gone electric', having joined the house band at live@bojangles and venturing into electric blues/soul/motown/funk.
