Revel in the Magic of Christmas as the organ world’s own Master Magician, accompanied by his singing angels sprinkle sparkling magic dust over a programme of seasonal gems from England, France and Germany!
A contemporary of Beethoven, Christian Heinrich Rinck provides true sparkle with his rarely heard variations on Father Christmas is Coming Tomorrow (otherwise known as Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star), while pieces from Liszt, Lemare, Lanquetuit and Lefébure-Wély provide some captivating Christmas crackers! Then the real magic gets underway with enchanting choral songs with a festive flavour from Saint-Saëns, Fauré and Poulenc, and warm Christmas cheer from the two composers without whom no musical Christmas would ever be complete; John Rutter and David Willcocks.
And finally, with a little help from the audience, the musical magicians hope to summon up the magical figure of Santa Claus himself!
Come and embrace the Magic of Christmas with your family and loved ones!
Marc Rochester, organist
At the age of 24, Marc became one of the youngest ever to hold the position of Organist and Master of the Choristers at a British cathedral when he was appointed to Londonderry Cathedral in Northern Ireland. Now, 30 years on, he remains a unique figure on the organ scene, combining an active career as a performer (he has been Resident Organist of Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS in Kuala Lumpur since its inception in 1998, has worked alongside Robert Joyce at Llandaff Cathedral, and performed solo throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa) with a parallel one as a writer and broadcaster on music, with a particular slant towards the organ and its repertoire, on which he is widely regarded as a leading authority.Jennifer Tham, conductor
Jennifer is best known for her work with the Singapore Youth Choir (now the SYC Ensemble Singers), which she has directed since 1986. She is also Artistic Director of the Young Musicians’ Society, serves on advisory panels for the National Arts Council and the Ministry of Education, was Artistic Director of the Asia South Pacific Symposium on Choral Music and has served on international artistic committees for the International Federation for Choral Music.
