SYNOPSIS
The Maris Stella Symphonic Band, an initiative started by the school’s first principal Brother Chanel Soon, started off as a brass band. In the mid-sixties, it became a military band as a result of the National Band Movement.
Since then it has taken part in numerous local and international performances. The band performed at the International Music Festival at Kristianstad, Sweden in 1994, at numerous Singapore Youth Festival Combined Band Displays, and the National Day Parade in 1997.
Under the guidance of Resident Conductor Mr Adrian Chiang and Music Director Mr Lin Ah Leck, the band has climbed to greater heights over the past few years. The band consecutively attained the Gold award at the Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging (Concert Band) for 2005, 2007 and 2009. At the Singapore Youth Festival 2011, the Maris Stella Symphonic Band achieved the Gold with Honours award.
