Esplanade - Inevitable

SYNOPSIS

Inevitable celebrates Juriani Mansor’s fascination with the largest organ of the human body: the skin. Not only forming the body’s exterior, the skin also impacts the interior, influencing one’s emotions and thoughts. The artist echoes her ideas and reflections in this site-specific installation with a play on form, texture, marks and colours of skin, extracted from her observations.

In her work, Juriani mimics the journey that the skin of a body takes through living and aging. She simulates marks, creases, wrinkles, blemishes and bruises with a clever and tactful use of latex, an unconventional medium. She creates a heightened experience for the viewers as they are invited to touch and feel the installation, allowing for both visual and physical participation towards understanding the artwork.
