SYNOPSIS
This performance celebrates the debut CD release from Darren Moore Quintet. Titled Isolation Has its Advantages, it represents the positive aspects of isolation that manifest when one is in a new environment. Through isolation, new directions and ideas are born, free from previous preconceptions which can offer the opportunity to reinvent. This collection of music represents such a journey.
Darren is involved in various projects which all feature the common factor of creative improvisation. He performs regularly as a drummer playing jazz, free jazz and freely improvised music and also performs with laptop and electronics. He has performed extensively in Australia, South-East Asia, Japan and Europe and has collaborated with leading musicians in his field. He is currently based in Singapore where he continues to perform regularly both in Singapore and abroad. In addition, he is also a lecturer in popular music studies at LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore.
The quintet features the most creative and talented jazz musicians in Singapore; Tim O'Dwyer (saxophone), Greg Lyons (saxophone), Andrew Lim (guitar), Tony Makarome (bass) and is led by Darren Moore (drums).
