SYNOPSIS
Evolutionary biologists tell us that humans have been telling stories for around 100,000 years. In that time storytelling has become so much a part of humanity that our brains have been “wired” to think in stories. Both telling and listening to stories are deeply creative experiences; the story is co-created by the imagination of both the teller and the listener. So it is not surprising then that storytelling is one of our most powerful communications tools.
Discover more about the art of storytelling in this workshop lead by Singapore storytelling pioneer Sheila Wee. This session will include storytelling demonstrations, exercises designed to help the participants develop their own storytelling skills and an introduction to basic storytelling techniques. Sheila will also cover how storytelling can be used to build community, improve children’s thinking skills and pass on knowledge and values.
