The Baden-Wurttemberg Youth Wind Orchestra is one of the world’s leading ensembles of its kind. Formed in 1983 for the top wind musicians of the state of Baden-Wurttemberg, the German wind orchestra is made up of young musicians between the ages of 14 and 21.
The will be performing this one-night-only concert as part of their Asian tour, which includes Hong Kong and Macau.
The orchestra is led by maestro Felix Hauswirth, who is Professor of Conducting at the Basel Conservatory in Switzerland. He received the 2009 Midwest Clinic International Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions and dedication to instrumental music education. He was also a past President of the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE).
Young Singaporean conductor Seow Yibin will be featured as a guest conductor at this concert, while Maestro Hauswirth will also conduct The Philharmonic Winds in Bizet's Carmen Symphony, before leading the combined forces of the two orchestras in Saint-saens' Orient et Occident for a spectacular end to the concert.
