SYNOPSIS
Come celebrate the yuletide season with Brazilian panache! This samba and bossa nova concert, produced by Asia’s foremost jazz pianist and Singapore’s “King of Swing” Jeremy Monteiro, brings together a stellar gathering of internationally acclaimed musical talents from Singapore and around the world in one big party of great artistry, fantastic music and good vibes!
Jeremy Monteiro, a Cultural Medallion winner (pianist, vocalist, composer, jazz educator) has won critical acclaim in many parts of the world (allaboutjazz.com). With more than 20 albums, his latest Homecoming features all original tunes. He has collaborated with jazz luminaries such asToots Thielemans, James Moody, Michael Brecker, Cassandra Wilson, Ernie Watts and Charlie Haden. During his last concert with Toots five years ago, Toots was so exhilarated with making music with Monteiro that he exclaimed "Jeremy...what a revelation!"
Toots Thielemans is the undisputed master of the harmonica, a natural talent in his field who learnt his craft on the job. Now at an age of 86, his harmonica playing is still unrivaled, captivating audiences worldwide with his playing "in that little space between a smile and a tear."
Two for Brazil is Brazilian-born Paulinho Garcia on the guitar and vocals and Chicago native Greg Fishman on the saxophone and flute. With a shared passion for Brazilian music, the two have received countless rave reviews for their tender, beautiful recordings and performances.
Polish-American singer, composer, arranger and producer and Jazz Forum Magazine’s "Best Jazz Vocalist" from 2002 to 2006, Grazyna Auguscik is hailed as "one of the most intriguing vocalists on the jazz scene today" (allaboutjazz.com), delivering her own version of jazz with an otherworldly voice and a fearless, virtuosic style.
Experience them live in concert together with gifted musicians Shawn Kelley (drums), Bart de Nolf (bass) and Mohamed Noor (percussion).
