Teenagers walk a fine line between childhood and adulthood, often tripping back and forth over it for years. During adolescence, teens begin to compare themselves with those around them, define their world, and consider where they fit into it. It’s a difficult process, and for many teens, it’s also often a lonely one. Pressure from parents, examinations, peers; the mass media have also played a significant role in youths developing feelings of isolation or insignificance. Forum theatre will be used to cover the deep-seated desires, fears, motivations and feelings at play, and perhaps explain the intricate dynamics contributing to social problem of alienation amongst youths. During the performance, the students themselves will be invited to stop the action of the play, replace characters onstage, and test their ideas for resolving conflicts. The interactive events will provide an engaging forum, yielding surprising insights for the youths and more importantly, creating an understanding on the importance of communication and empowerment from the process.
