By Indian Ink | New Zealand
18 & 19 Nov, Fri & Sat, 8pm, Theatre Studio
The Candlestickmaker “...still has a freshness about it and it still has the power to raise not only laughter and applause and also a collective gasp of shock from the audience... ”
– The Evening Post (New Zealand)
Discover black holes and the formula for happiness in this tribute to one of the greatest astrophysicists of this century,
Subramanyan Chandrasekhar.
The Candlestickmaker combines Indian flavours and Western theatrical traditions to tell the story of
a young New Zealand Indian student who, Lonely Planet in hand, sets off to discover India and ends up discovering
the mysteries of the universe, meeting a Nobel Prize winner, a 300-year-old cook and even a duck, all played by a
single actor and a puppeteer. Science rarely comes wrapped up this warm and funny.
